Data Storage Growth

In our hi-def era, storage requirements have grown dramatically.  Data storage capacities continue to rise so it comes as no surprise that with higher quality resolutions in digital entertainment content the storage demands have also increased.  According to certain reports, storage systems increase about 1.7 times per year and the average file size since August of 2003 is 30MB.

Where will we be in another decade?  Storage densities and storage technology in general continues to advance and digital media and other electronic data simply finds a way to fill the space.   Fortunately, memory is very affordable and available.  It does not look like we will be running out of space any time soon.
