Man Survives on Soy Sauce and Wasabi
Their certain steps most of us follow when eating at a NY sushi restaurant. We order either some sashimi, individual pieces of sushi, or a specialty sushi roll and then do the following. We either put some wasabi on the roll itself in and dip it into soy sauce or we mix the wasabi into the sauce and dunk away. As for the ginger some place it on the roll itself and others will munch on a piece between bites of fish. Either way these things are condiments that enhance our meal and not the main course itself. However recently a man in Taiwan was forced to make meals out of wasabi in soy sauce alone.
The man, Masaaki Tanaka, was stuck at the Taipei international Airport after there was an issue with his visa. Similar to the Tom Hank’s film “The Terminal” or the book A Week at the Airport, Tanaka was forced to live at the Airport. Apparently Tanaka had overstayed his visa and was not allowed to leave the country. After using all the little amount of money he had on him, Tanaka quickly found himself without anything. In order to survive he ate packets full of wasabi and soy sauce.
While stuck at the Airport Tanaka took to the Internet to blog about his experience. In doing so he was able to create a following and catch the attention of many. Those who heard about his story sent in donations and with that money he was able to pay the fine for overstaying his visa. Now after a month of living at the Airport Tanaka will finally be leaving up later this month to return to Japan.
