My mother loves to write children’s stories.  I always loved her stories, but not all of them have pictures yet.  She can draw and the ones she’s taken time to illustrate are great, but she has a hard time finding the time to illustrate them all.   I think that if she would consider hiring an artist to illustrate for her it would help a lot towards getting her books published. As they are now you have to rely on the imagination, so commissioned artwork would only add to her stories.  It’s hard for her to think of someone else helping her tell her stories, but I think there are many artists that could put the pictures she has in mind onto the paper for her.  Sharing her stories with the world would be well worth the price of the artist’s fees.  After all, what’s a children’s book without pictures?

My old roommate had a star tattooed on her foot and I found it to be quite unattractive, given her propensity for not cleaning it after she had it done and it infecting. Foot tattoo designs can be cool, but are kind of weird. She wasn’t a clean or responsible person, so I would highly suggest being hygienic and knowing how much aftercare is required to keep them clean. I would never get a tattoo, especially on my foot, as those tattoo designs always seem trashy and in poor taste. I think people get them there so no one can see it, but I wonder what the point of getting foot tattoo designs is if you don’t want anyone to see it. Anytime anyone brings up tattoos I think of how wretched her foot looked after a month and completely discourage people from having them done.

Our church’s youth group recently wanted to go on an outing in the canyon, to sing songs of praise and also bear our testimonies to each other, in order to have an uplifting spiritual retreat from the every day stresses of the world. I had only several weeks before this watched several great video worship guitar lessons online, and had learned a few songs. I was very happy to bring along my guitar and accompany the singing with it. Our retreat turned out to be quite a spiritual smorgasbord and we all had a wonderfully uplifting time, singing and playing songs of praise and worship.

In some jurisdictions these are sometimes called civil unions or domestic partnerships, while some others explicitly prohibit same-sex marriages.

I like my life to be very simple, carefree, sort of easy breezy. I am getting married in a few months. I have been looking into Panama City beach weddings. My best friend was married at the beach. She said she wouldn’t have it any other way. She was able to find a wedding business and they were able to do just about everything. They we very reasonable so she went for the total package. I am definitely interested since I do like to keep things simple. It would be nice to just show up and have no worries about cleaning up. It is sounding like I may have found an answer.

I am just beginning to take guitar lessons, but I already know my favorite music to play is the blues.  You are probably wondering what a twelve year old kid from the suburbs has to be blue about.  Well, you don’t have to be blue to sing them.  It’s not so much a state of mind, but a feeling for the music itself.  I surprised my instructor when I told him a wanted to play blues guitar.  He said almost every kid he teaches wants to become a rock star.  Rock is cool, but the blues are hot.  I know it will be years before I can play blues guitar as well as I want to, but that gives me the motivation I need to work hard and learn to play my best. 

So how do skilled violin maker optimize the tone of an instrument during the construction process? They begin by selecting a wood of the highest possible quality for the front and back plates, which they test by tapping with a hammer and judging how well it “rings”. The next important step is to skilfully carve the plates out of the solid wood, taking great care to get the right degree of arching and variations in thickness. The craftsman has to learn how to adjust the plates to produce a fine-sounding instrument. We’ve been going over to University Church on Sunday mornings and I’m really loving it. They use a lot of new music in the liturgy, so it’s a lot more upbeat and spiritual than what we’re used to here in town. Of course, they probably do that partly for the students, and they’ve got a lot of talented kids from the music department that participate. The pianist is just incredible.

The priest is young, and he keeps things pretty lively too. To be honest, I have to struggle to stay awake sometimes with Father John.

Nice change of pace, anyways.

The other day I went over to my friend Brian’s house to pick up my power drill that I had lent him a week prior. While over at Brian’s house I noticed that he had been making some new birdhouses. I saw one that I really liked. We then got to talking about what he has been up to these past few weeks. He did tell me about a good movie he just saw. The movie required him to wear 3D Glasses and he had a great time. He then told me that I could flat out have the birdhouse that I liked.
